Components of a fixed ball valve


Body: Used as the housing for the valve component, providing support and holding it in place. Depending on its application, the valve body can be made of carbon steel, stainless steel, super duplex steel, etc.

Ball: The valve ball is a spherical disk used to stop or start fluid flow. Its ends are attached to the trunnion and stem and are in a fixed position when rotated.

Seat: The seat holds the ball tightly in place to shut off fluid flow when the valve is closed. There are two types of seats: metal seats and soft seats.

Trunnion: This is the extra shaft in a trunnion ball valve that holds the ball in place from below for a secure connection. It can be an extension of the ball or welded to the ball.

Lever: The lever controls the movement of the ball. It connects the ball to the actuator. Trunnion ball valves have blowout preventer rods capable of withstanding high pressures and temperatures.

Injection: Injection fittings are used to inject sealing material in the event of leakage due to valve seal failure. They are designed into the stem and seat portion of the valve.
